MAY AND JUNE LISTINGS – New England Wild Flower Society

(NATURE, ART, GARDENING, MUSEUM, ATTRACTION, EVENTS)

  

STANDING ATTRACTION: New England Wild Flower Society’s Garden in the Woods open April 15 - October 31, 2008, featuring 1,500 native plant species and cultivars, including 200 rare and endangered species. Select from hundreds of native plant species at the sales nursery.  

July 12-October 31: garden-wide exhibit, David Rogers’ BIG BUGS, included with admission, with 13 giant sculptures and weekly Web-of-life Extravaganza events.

April 15-September 1: Open daily 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. September 2-October 31: Open daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free parking. Tours weekdays at 10 a.m. and weekends at 2 p.m. included with admission, no reservations required.

Admission  $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students with ID, $4 for children 3-18. May 6, 6:30-8:30 a.m. EARLY MORNING PHOTOGRAPHY (also May 13, 20, 27, June 3) brings photographers to Garden in the Woods when trails are empty and lighting perfect to capture spring wildflowers in bloom. Preregistration required at registrar@newenglandWILD.org. $10M/$12NM per session

 

May 15, 10 a.m.-12 noon BEAUTIFUL NATIVE PLANTS FOR THE BIRD GARDEN - plants that provide beauty year-round, particularly those that feed birds during migrations and winter and provide shelter. Preregistration required at registrar@newenglandWILD.org. $25M/$30NM

 

May 15, 12-3 p.m. CONTAINER GARDENING WITH NATIVE PLANTS - lecture and hands-on workshop to cover lighting, designing, growing media, irrigating, fertilizing, assembling and planting a container garden. Preregistration required at registrar@newenglandWILD.org   $49M/$55NM

 

June 5, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Go WILD! PARTY for plant conservation. Auctions, celebrities, thousands of plants, gourmet treats. $50. RSVP to hmcdonald@newenglandwild.org.

June 21, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. RUSTIC TRELLIS, OBELISK & GATE WORKSHOP Design and construct a rustic garden structure from wood at Garden in the Woods with Frank Hamm. For adults or parent/child pairs. Preregistration required at registrar@newenglandWILD.org.  $85M/$100NM per person.
