BULBS FOR URBAN GARDENS

Fall is bulb planting time, and gardeners are faced with a dizzying array of possibilities. These hardy, long-lasting perennials make delightful additions to sun or shade gardens, are easy to grow, and are great choices for urban spaces. Join horticulturist and landscape designer Laura Eisener to explore the large palette of plants that grow from bulbs or bulb-like structures. Some are exotic, but many are North American natives. In addition to fall planted varieties, this class will also cover species that actually perform better if the whole plant is transplanted from a container in the spring rather than bare root in the fall. Choosing and planting the best bulbs now will be a great investment for your garden’s 2009 bloom.
