The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day (and longest night) of the year, as well as the first day of winter. Solstices mark key turning points in the year and have been celebrated by many cultures throughout history. We celebrate on the actual solstice with history and lore, poetry, stories and a walk outdoors to enjoy the setting sun, enjoy the beauty of the season, and light the ceremonial “Fireball.” Indoors, we end with a short ceremony to welcome the solstice season followed by warm cider and cookies.
