The morning session features landscape designer Judith Irven speaking

on “A Sense of Place: Gardens that Celebrate the Natural Landscape.”

New England’s spectacular rural landscape -- with its mountains, farms

and canopied forest – can inspire gardens that echo this wider world.

Landscape architect Ann Milovsoroff then presents “Gardens around the

World,” an exploration of contemporary garden design trends gathered from public, private, and exhibition gardens around the world.  See images that delight, entice and provide ideas for northern New England gardens.

After lunch, there will be a presentation by nationally recognized

taxonomist and botanist Arthur Haines on the reasons for and stories

behind his newly published Flora Novae Angliae.

Speakers:

Judith Irven, landscape designer, educator and lifelong gardener,

lives in Goshen, VT on the western slopes of the Green Mountains and

shares her garden writings on www.northcountrygardener.com

Ann Milovsoroff was the landscape architect on staff at Royal

Botanical Gardens in Ontario. Since returning to Vermont she has worked with Heritage

Landscapes, Horsfords Gardens, and Full Circle Gardens. She is a

Fellow of both the American and the Canadian Society of Landscape

Architecture.

Arthur Haines is Research Botanist for New England Wild Flower

Society. His recently released manual, Flora Novae Angliae, has been

highly acclaimed with praises such as "...meticulously researched

manual will be the standard work on the flora of New England for

decades to come...," and "..most comprehensive treatment to date of

the identification, geographic distribution, and habitats of New

England's plants." Arthur is as admired for his clear, easily

understood speaking abilities as well as for his research. We will

enjoy hearing him explain some interesting facts about our regional

flora in our after-lunch session, offered at no charge.

There is no charge for the afternoon session with Arthur Haines. You

may register for either or both sessions. Member fee applies to

members of any of the cosponsoring organizations. No refunds for
