Five Year Review: Livable Suburban Makeover
Five Year Review: Livable Suburban Makeover
Suburban Makeover

This small, suburban corner lot was completely renovated when the house was expanded from a split-level ranch into a shingle-style house. Beginning in 2000, garden designer Gina Foglia worked with house architect Chris Royer to merge interior with exterior spaces, and to create livable garden rooms accommodating the owner, her children, grandchildren and beloved dog. At this five-year anniversary of the installation, we will discover how the landscape has evolved both towards and away from the original design intent. We’ll get a picture of the property before renovation, the process of working closely with the owner and architect, and then have a critical look at the garden’s new “bones,” its array of native and edible plantings, and establishment of public and private spaces, both large and small, on this sloped site.
