Mt Toby lies just east of the Connecticut River, and is known for the biodiversity of its ferns and orchids. The conglomerate rock is not very acidic, allowing lime-loving plants to grow along with the more common ones. We expect to find some spleenworts, walking fern, Goldie's wood fern, narrow-leaved glade fern, and perhaps even the tiny prothallus form of Trichomanes intricatum (weft fern), which looks more like an algae than a fern. Dress for off-trail hiking.
