This new 40-unit adult community development is one of the first to qualify as a full L.I.D. (Low Impact Development) for storm water “bio-retention” and its nearly 100% native planting design. Still under construction, the site features more than 1,200 feet of roadway swales that act as giant rain gardens, absorbing run-off and providing filtration by native plants and special infiltration chambers. Join designer Mark Cooperman for an on-site seminar that highlights the recent revolution is storm water management, showing how large-scale site development can be effectively merged with modern gardening practices and native plant horticulture. Among the site’s features are large areas of recently planted meadows and alternatives to turfgrass in entryway strips, common areas, and over septic fields.
