Join landscape designer Angela Seaborg to explore creative ideas for play spaces that naturally lend themselves to change, versatility, and exploration. By looking to your surroundings for insight and taking advantage of a property’s natural features, you can plan and install a space that simultaneously provides children with a creative environment, places for adult activities, and a planting scheme that invites wildlife while preserving the flow and functionality of your property. Imagine mounding soil to create a mountaintop view or a safe un-visible cove, or planting a sumac grove for climbing/hiding, a pizza garden for eating, or a native wildflower meadow for exploration – the possibilities are unlimited. Participants will engage in exercises to draw from their own favorite childhood play space and to formulate elements compatible with their current living environment.
